Last month, we decided to have a mini desert getaway for our anniversary. The plan is to visit Joshua Tree National Park and and visit the Desert X installations in Palm Springs!

Joshua Tree

Our very first stop was Joshua Tree National Park. We drove around and checked out different spots. We had our dog Bucky with us so we decided not to hike as it was too hot. We did check out some amazing spots inside the National Park.

Skull Rock

Cholla Cactus Garden

Jumbo Rocks Campground

After visiting the park, we decided to explore the surrounding towns and found some cute spots as well like the

We had the Hawaiian and vegetarian pizza to-go. It was soooo good.

After a long day, we then checked-in at the most amazing AirBnb we've ever stayed at so far. We were going to stay in an inn but we got lucky this listing had a last minute cancellation (they're booked up until March 2022). See for yourself for the breathtaking views of this place. At night time, we got lucky to witness Elon Musk's Starlink (lower right photo)!

The next morning we visited Joshua Tree Coffee and grabbed some brunch at Crossroads Cafe. I have to say that their Tuna Meltdown sandwich is a must-try!

Pioneertown

On our way to Palm Springs, we decided to stop by Pioneertown. We definitely did not regret stopping by here. We walked at the old Mane Street and checked out all the stables, saloons, jails, ice cream parlors, bowling alleys, and motels. It gave us a glimpse into what life was like only a century ago in this small town with only population of 420! Trivia: There are more than 50 tv shows and movies filmed in Pioneertown!

Palm Springs

After Pioneertown, we headed to Palm Springs. The main reason we had this trip was to explore Desert X so when we arrived, we immediately went to the first installation.

Note: Desert X 2021 is now closed. A few installations remain on view. Check the map.

It was scorching hot so we made a pit stop at Monster Shakes.

Because the next two installations were reservation only, we had to wait for our time slot since we were too early. While waiting, we decided to visit the world's first cactarium - Moorten Botanical Garden.

After a long day, it was time to check-in at our hotel Triada Palm Springs. This hotel is very charming and not to mention pet-friendly!

For dinner, we went to Workshop Kitchen + Bar.

The next day, we had brunch at our patio and started getting ready for check-out. We had one more installation to check out so we dropped by there.

Before heading home, we dropped by Koffi and relaxed at their beautiful lawn.

We also dropped by Just Fabulous and checked out some cute products. We did not want to drive home during rush hour so we decided to have an early dinner at TRIO.

While having our meal, we realized we had to drive back to Riverside the next day for Mother's Day, so we decided to stay one more night and we're so glad we did! Good thing Kimpton Rowan Palm Springs had an available room. We got lucky and got the mountain view room. It was beautiful. They even had yoga mats in the room - perfect for yoga mornings! Also for those of you who don't know, all Kimpton brand hotels are very pet-friendly. Go check their website and you'll see this on their page: "At every Kimpton boutique hotel, we invite you to bring your furry, feathery or scaly family member — no matter their size, weight, or breed, all at no extra charge. If your pet fits through the door, we’ll welcome them in. " Amazing, right!?

We explored downtown and made sure Bucky had the time of his life and visited Cold Nose Warm Heart. For those of you who don't know, my husband is a lover of Hawaiian polo shirts and truly enough, he bought one for Bucky! Little did we know that there were matching adult polo shirts sold from Kat and Cody (which was a block away from the shop!). So yes, we got one for ourselves too!

We wanted to enjoy the hotel amenities so we headed back and had sunset drinks at the rooftop - High Bar.

Before heading to Riverside the next morning, we stopped by Palm Springs Art Museum to check out some more cool art exhibits.

We also made sure to drop by Sherman's Deli and bought some cakes for Mother's Day brunch.

And there you go! A 4-day desert getaway that is pet-friendly and stress-free!
