Last September 2020, we visited the little town of Idyllwild. It is a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the busy city. Our drive from San Diego was only under 2 hours and the roads leading to there were pretty safe. Because of the pandemic, we decided to book an AirBnb just so we did not have to be encountering other guests.
We checked in at our AirBnb located at Marian View Dr. It was such a cute little cabin with a huge backyard.

We dropped our stuff off and had lunch at Restaurant Gastrognome located at The Village. After lunch, we then strolled around and checked out Mountain Paws.

We then went across the street and saw this cute little coffee shop called Black Mountain Coffee Roasting. No one else was there so we pretty much got the place all to ourselves. We tried the coffee tasting and it was such a unique experience!

I mean, can you just look at that adorable sign

After strolling around, we went back to the cabin and took an amazing nap in the porch with a very relaxing view.

After our nap, we went to Idyllwild Brewpub for dinner. Note that all restaurants we went to are all pet-friendly so we were able to take our Bucky everywhere!

After dinner, we went home, played boardgames and enjoyed our cookies and hot chocolate! We wanted to make this trip as relaxing as possible and we did just that.

The next morning, we prepared breakfast and ate in the backyard.

We then started our day by visiting Indian Vista Scenic Overlook. Because of the pandemic, all of the national forests were closed so we were not able to explore and hike. So we decided to drive around Idyllwild and enjoy the scenery. Here are some shots I've taken.

After our scenic drive, we had lunch at Mile High Cafe & Restaurant. I tried their specialty beef bulgogi and it was so good! Don't forget to also order their fresh orange juice!!!

After lunch, we went home and relaxed. We wanted to enjoy the AirBnb amenities so we made use of the backyard and played with our dog Bucky. We also went up to the sky deck that was in the backyard. .

We decided to stay in and have a steak night so we cooked dinner and had some wine. We also had a rematch of our scrabble game.
The next morning, we woke up early to have breakfast and packed up. We needed to leave on time as we had an appointment with Mayor Max.

Yup, that's right! Mayor Max is a Golden Retriever and he is the mayor of Idyllwild! Learn more about him here https://www.mayormax.com.
After our meeting with Mayor Max, we then headed back to San Diego. Overall, our Idyllwild trip was such an amazing getaway. It was such a stress-free trip and it was perfectly what we needed. If you want to escape from your busy city life, try checking out Idyllwild and see for yourself!
